Dr. Diaper’s interests in Artificial Intelligence (AI) started in the 1970s when, as a cognitive psychologist working on his doctoral research in the Department of Experimental Psychology, University of Cambridge, he was necessarily interested in the computational process that occurred in minds, and by extension, how these could be modelled mathematically and on computers as computational neurones.  Thirty years later he is still involved with research on artificial neural networks, currently with Dr. Christian Huyck and his team at Middlesex University.

In the interim, Dr. Diaper undertook, and published, research on: Knowledge Based Systems (KBS, also known as ‘Expert Systems’); on Natural Language Processing (NLP), particularly on the requirements and design of intelligent NLP user interfaces; and on intelligent hypertext systems.

While Dr. Diaper would be happy to work on any AI projects, with universities or private and public sector organisations, in terms of DDD SYSTEMS consultancy services, his current interests, which will most likely appeal to the largest number of potential clients, is in the identification of practical uses of AI in organisations and by individuals.

Dr. Diaper has been, for many years, a member of the Advisory Editorial Board of the Elsevier journal, ‘Knowledge-Based Systems’.
