“I think, therefore I write.

I nearly called this personal section of my website, “Bits’n’Bobs, NOT a Blog.”  Years ago, in my science & engineering work, I discovered that to really understand something, it was necessary to write about it.  On the other hand, writing ‘Dear Diary,” stuff not for publication is self indulgent, mental masturbation.  This section of my website represents a compromise solution that allows me to publish stuff for free, something academics are used to, and for which I have not, yet, found a means to publish for profit (a concept of utter anathema to professional writers).  Some of it is just bread-on-the-waters stuff which people might enjoy and find interesting.  Quite often I include articles because I have so many “interests” that I simply haven’t the time, or business inclination, to exploit my ideas.  After all, I did choose, carefully, my own professorial title of ‘Professor of Systems Science & Engineering”, because my research interests are in general systems, and everything can be described as a system.

Art, sport, hobbies, politics, all that life-style stuff, is all grist for my systemic mill, which leads me to interesting conclusions that I need to write about, to understand them, and which I hope stimulates other people.  Anyone sufficiently piqued by one of my “pieces” (to quote P. G. Wodehouse), is welcome to contact me, particularly, of course, in the context of exploiting my ideas.

My intention with this section of my website, along with the DDD SYSTEMS Art PRINTER section, is that these will undergo continuous development.  This personal section can be accessed most easily by ‘Navigate’; people who have visited this web site previously can look at what is new.
