Properly,
the discipline of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is the study of everything to do with people and
computers … User Interface Design (UID) is only a very small, albeit important,
part of HCI.
Dr. Diaper has combined psychology and computing in his scientific and engineering HCI work for over a quarter of a century. Dr. Diaper is a world expert in task analysis, although in the last decade this aspect of his work has expanded to the evaluation, analysis and design of general systems (systemics). Traditionally in task analysis, tasks are what people do, whereas, in a systemic approach, tasks are how some part of a general system acts as an agent to change (or maintain) some other part of the system.
His interests in Artificial Intelligence (AI) are even older, having started in the late 1970s, and he still continues his research in AI. The breadth of Dr. Diaper’s research interests can be gauged by the areas in which he has published journal/conference papers and book chapters, which are listed in full in his curriculum vitae.
