DDD SYSTEMS & Dr. Dan
Diaper. A special, budget service to
assist students on computing or psychology degree programmes is available. Generally this service will involve Dr.
Diaper providing feedback on a student’s written document, but other forms of
help are negotiable.

Ethical
and professional issues are one topic that I write about and teach.
Occasionally, some students feel that they can’t obtain the support they need from their university, or perhaps they are between institutions, for example, in the case of those applying to study for a postgraduate programme.
When Dr. Diaper was a full time academic, every year a number of
students from the
Such requests for help from students have become less frequent since he retired as a full time academic, although presumably the need is still there. Dr. Diaper does and will continue to do his best, his limited free time permitting, to answer straightforward requests for advice from students. For students who would like to have a more formal arrangement for more substantive help, then DDD SYSTEMS offers a special, budget service (see below) to computing and psychology students. In the first instance, students should contact Dr. Diaper by email, after they have, at least, looked at his research interests.
While he is always flexible, usually students will want Dr. Diaper to help with a document they are writing, usually a project proposal/report/thesis/dissertation. As a consequence of the breadth of Dr. Diaper’s research interests, he always has research that he’d like to undertake, but for which he does not have the time, and which would make excellent student projects. Thus, he can also help undergraduate and postgraduate computing or psychology students with the initial selection and design of projects that cater to an individual student’s strengths and interests.
For student document of up to 12 pages, the DDD SYSTEMS budget charge to students for Dr. Diaper’s feedback is about £70. For longer documents, up to Ph.D. dissertations, there will be a negotiable, non-linear increase in price, which, except in exceptional circumstances, would asymptote (i.e. be maximum) at around £250. By arrangement, feedback can be typed, or on a marked-up manuscript, or even by telephone. Feedback will always be about content; proof reading and comments on style come free, but are not guaranteed.
There is some considerable controversy about such services to students provided by those outside a student’s institution; some have been called “cheat services” because of how they are unfortunately used by some students. All students using DDD SYSTEMS student services will be required to inform their institution appropriately; checks that this has occurred are likely.
Students are welcome to discuss other forms of assistance with Dr. Diaper. Postgraduate students, in particular, might take advantage of the personal, one-to-one training opportunities offered by DDD SYSTEMS.
